Upgrading works on a link road between Tuam and south Mayo are expected to get underway in July.
That's according to Tuam Fianna Fail Councillor Donagh Killilea, who confirmed that tenders on the R332 road scheme are due back this week.
The road works will take out a dangerous stretch of road in Kilbannon between Duddy's pub and Kilconly GAA grounds.
Alongside the road works, there will be enhancement works in the village providing a footpath and a pedestrian crossing to both the school and the GAA pitch.
Councillor Killilea told Midwest News that he expects the works on the road to be approved by the Municipal District on the 25th of June.
