Tributes are being paid to the man who died in a farm accident in Kilconly, near Tuam on Sunday evening.

Pat Dermody was well-known in farming circles in the West of Ireland, as he was an auctioneer at Tuam Mart and has handled livestock sales in other marts across the region including Ballinrobe and Balla.

He also ran an auctioneers and estate agency.

Mr Dermody was involved in a farmyard accident on Sunday evening, and was taken to Galway University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out, and Gardai and the Health & Safety Authority are investigating.

He's survived by his wife Bridget-known as Widge - two sons and a daughter.


Mr Dermody's funeral arrangements will be announced later
