The HSE says surgeons will now be able to carry out some non-emergency operations that were suspended because of the pandemic.
Nationally twelve more people being treated for Covid-19 have died, and 236 more people have tested positive over the past 24 hours.
This brings the death toll from the virus here to 1,458 and the total number of cases here to 22,996.
In Mayo the total number of cases remains unchanged at 522, Galway has 388, Roscommon has 235 and Sligo has 116.
Cancer and heart surgeries will be the priority for now.
Professor John Crown, consultant in clinical oncology at St Vincent's Hospital, says doctors have been limited in what they can do for other patients during the pandemic.
