Aurivo is temporarily suspending its livestock sales from next Monday 23rd March until at least the end of this month.
Aurivo Marts say the decision has been made in light of Covid-19 outbreak, and will be reviewed in the interim.
Pre-booked sales at Ballymote Mart today (Thursday, and at Balla and Mohill Marts on Saturday will proceed under strict protocols -
Only customers with business to conduct should attend the marts, and strictly no children allowed.
Buyers must observe the protocols around social distancing, and there will be restrictions around the number of sellers allowed to attend the ring.
All mart canteens will be closed with immediate effect.
And anyone who was out of the country recently, or has been in contact with people exhibiting any symptoms of coronavirus, is asked not to attend at the mart.
