Ring your elderly or vulnerable neighbours before calling to their home. That’s the advice of Mayo Garda Superintendent Kevin Gatley.
Supt Gatley says if you do not know a caller to your home, then don't let them in.
He told Midwest News today that the gardai are working closely with Mayo County Council and the HSE and are encouraging everyone to follow the advice that is being given on public safety and the curtailment of the spread of Covid-19.
Describing the present outbreak of the coronavirus as an extraordinary time, he says everyone needs to play their part to ensure that people living in rural and isolated areas in our region are not neglected or left out.
Speaking to Midwest News today he urged all householders to have their Eircode at hand, and to ring the gardai if they need them.
