Gardaí would ask tradesmen not to call to members of the public without prior appointment, as people may be wishing to minimise contact at this time.
They are reminding the public that people who call from utility providers will always have identification to verify their services and you can check that with your Gardaí.
Supt Gabriel Moran says if you have any concerns about people calling or approaching your house do not open your door and contact the Gardai on 999 if urgent, or your local Garda station.
