A Mayo-based company will today produce its first bottles of a new hand sanitiser in response to increasing demand.

Cosmetic Creations, based in Mayo and Cork, has formulated and tested a new hand sanitiser called Airmedica, following requests from the public and private sectors, and will producing between 80 and 100,000 units per week.

The company has, to date, been a manufacturer of skincare and cosmetic products but is expanding into the pharmaceutical market.

Late last year, the company announced 30 additional jobs at its headquarters in Claremorris.

China is one of the world’s leading bottle manufacturers and since they have scaled back production because of Covid19, it has meant containers for the new sanitiser have been hard to source.

Commercial Manager of Cosmetic Creations Paddy Cunney says they are keeping aside a percentage of their stock for frontline healthcare staff, hospitals and nursing homes.
