Two separate status yellow weather warnings are in operation along the west and north-west this morning.

A yellow rain alert is in place, since 3am this morning across  counties Mayo, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo, with Met Eireann forecasting up to 35 millimetres of rain to fall, with the risk of river flooding.

While in counties Mayo, Galway and Donegal - a status yellow wind warning is in operation since the same time this morning with gusts of up to 95 kilometres an hour possible.

Both weather alerts remain in place until 3am tomorrow ( Saturday) morning.
