It's the first day at work for 47 new TDs as they take up their seats in the 33rd Dáil for the first time.

After all the TD's names are read into the record at Leinster House, a Ceann Comhairle will be elected.

It's a straight shoot-out between Fianna Fáil's Seán O'Fearghail, and Roscommon independent TD Denis Naughten.

Once that's settled, Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin and the Greens are all likely to nominate their leaders to be Taoiseach.

No one has the votes to win this time around - but defeat will mean Leo Varadkar has to resign his position as Taoiseach.

Two Mayo TD’s will take their seats in Leinster House today for the very first time.

They are Sinn Fein’s Rose Conway Walsh and Fine Gael’s Alan Dillon.
