A number of food businesses in the West were among the winners and runners-up at the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards, which were announced yesterday.

This is the 4th year of the awards, which are presented in association with Fáilte Ireland.

Rua Deli & Café in Castlebar won the Irish Bread Award for its dillisk soda bread, while Ashford Castle in Cong received an award in recognition of its sustainability initiatives.

The Twelve Hotel in Barna, Galway was highly commended for their Irish Breakfast Menu, while the award for best guesthouse breakfast went to The Quay House in Clifden.

The winner of a public vote to find Ireland's best brunch was Arán Bakery & Bistro in Kilkenny, while the runners-up in this category included Kelly's Kitchen in Newport, Co Mayo; Sweet Geranium Café in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and Osta Café & Wine Bar in Sligo.
