A farm safety event for farmers and their families will be held this Friday 14th Feb at Mountbellew Agricultural College.
Last year, 18 farmers were fatally injured on farms, with one fatality already this year.
Teagasc says farm safety is a crucial issue on Irish farms, and there needs to be constant awareness of how we can make farms safer places to be and work.
Teagasc, in partnership with Mountbellew Agricultural College, will host Friday's half-day farm safety event, which takes place between 2 and 5pm and is open to all farmers.
A farm accident victim from Co Galway will be there to outline the consequences of his accident, while Gardai, the Health & Safety Authority and Farm Relief Services will make presentations, and Teagasc and college staff will mount presentations on slurry, animal handling and machinery.
