Over €32 million euro has been allocated for improving and maintaining regional and local roads in Co Mayo this year.

This includes €16 million for restoration improvement, €2.8 million for restoration maintenance, €725,000 for bridge rehabilitation, €650,000 for safety improvement works,  and over €1.3 million for drainage works.

Half a million euro has been allocated for the R312 bridge and road realignment at Glenisland, on the Castlebar to Erris road.

€100,000 has been allocated for the Kilmaine to Tuam road at Foxhall, and also €100,000 for the Cong Outer Relief Road under the Strategic Regional & Local Roads scheme.

The Minister for Rural & Community Development Michael Ring says this year's funding for local and regional roads in Mayo is an increase of €5 million on last year's allocation....
