Individual Farmers of Ireland protested yesterday and the day before in Dublin city centre over the price they are securing for their cattle and the government’s efforts to address what they term “a beef crisis”.

However, the Dail is no longer in session, as the General Election campaign is underway

Last night they caused extensive disruption to evening traffic in the city when they drove in convoy with their tractors along the N7 southbound.

Mayo election candidate for Aontu Paul Lawless, who has supported the farmers in their protests, told Midwest News today that the farmers from across this region, and nationally, that took part in the city protest did so out of desperation.
