The death has taken place of Regina Duffy from Drummin, Westport.
Regina held a special place in the hearts of people right across the region during her battle against a rare form of cancer.
Many communities, parishes and organisations and listeners to Midwest Radio rallied around Regina and her family to help her receive specialist treatment in New York, earlier this year.
Regina was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She successfully underwent treatment but was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2014, which she also battled with treatment.
Just months after she got married to her partner Jason Donoghue in March 2018, Regina was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.
The charity organisation, Regina's Fight for Life, stated on its Facebook earlier today: "There is a new angel in heaven tonight. RIP our beloved Regina. We will love you and remember your forever."
The deceased, a teacher by profession, was a member of the staff of St. Colman's College, Claremorris.
Her remains will be reposing at Navin's Funeral Home, Westport, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Requiem Mass takes place on Friday in St. Mary's Church, Drummin, at 12 noon with cremation at 4 p.m. in Shannon Crematorium.
