Motorists are being advised to drive with extreme caution this morning following storm force winds overnight.
There are reports of fallen trees in a number of counties in the west and midlands.
A status orange wind warning was in place for Mayo and Galway for a time last night, with trees and debris on many roads.
Mayo County Council and Galway City Council says crews worked overnight clearing flooding and debris, and have been joined by additional crews since 5am.
Both local authorities are urging the public to watch out for branches, debris and spot flooding on all roads.
Wind and rain in the Salthill area of Galway resulted in flooding, with emergency crews working overnight in affected areas.
Hundreds of householders are without power this morning across the west this morning.
ESB crews are working to repair the faults.
A full assessment of any damage caused by the storm conditions will be undertaken this morning by Mayo County Council and updates will issued as appropriate.
