Gardai are advising motorists of treacherous icy road conditions in places across the region this morning.

Numerous vehicles left the road in the early hours of this morning in the Castlebar area – on the Pontoon Road, in the Belcara and Manulla areas, while incidents have also occurred along the N17 between Ballindine and Charlestown, with conditions described as “particularly hazardous” close to the airport.

Gardai say the gritters have been out, but nonetheless, motorists are warned to slow down and to take due caution in hazardous road conditions in places.
