Ballina Arts Centre looks set to close its doors, or be forced to reduce its output, unless an additional €35,000 in funding can be secured next year from its 3-tier funding backers - the Arts Council, Mayo County Council and the Ballina Municipal District.
That's the stark message from the director of the centre Séan Walsh.
Mr Walsh will address the monthly meeting of the Ballina Municipal District to again impress on councillors the need for additional funding for 2020.
He says overheads costs are continuing to rise at the Arts Centre located along the River Moy in Ballina, and while performances tend to pay for themselves, maintenance and upkeep costs rise annually.
Séan Walsh has made a plea for additional funding to local councillors over recent years, and speaking today with Midwest News, he said costs continue to spiral, without any additional funding allocations.....
