A man has gone on trial for the murder of Martin "Matt" Kivlehan in Sligo four years ago.
32-year old Keith Brady of Cartron Estate, Sligo is charged with murdering Mr Kivlehan at New Apartments, Holborn Street, Sligo between 2nd and 3rd August 2015.
Mr Brady pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter, but this was not accepted by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
In the Central Criminal Court yesterday, Mr Justice Alexander Owens said the jury would begin to hear evidence today, but he warned them not to engage in "Poirot or Sherlock Holmes behaviour" and said they will be held in contempt of court if they look up details of the case on the internet.
The case is expected to last for two weeks.
