National schoolchildren from Foxford are today visiting an Argentine naval ship, as part of celebrations to remember Admiral William Browne, founder of the Argentine navy.

The Libertad - one of the largest tall ships in the world, is currently docked at St John Rogerson's Quay in Dublin, after arriving on Saturday.

The ship, which is used as a training ship by the Argentine navy, will leave for Boston tonight, but before that, a group of over 50 children from the hometown of Admiral William Browne have been invited on board the vessel today.

It follows ceremonies in Foxford on Sunday, when over 200 Argentine military personnel travelled to the Mayo town to visit the homeplace of Admiral Browne.
