A ceremony will take place at Knock Shrine next Tuesday, when the Dublin Mint Office will donate a medal to the Shrine, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Pope John Paul II's historic visit to Ireland.

Knock was one of the destinations visited by the Pope during the 1979 visit to Ireland - which was the centenary year of the apparitions in Knock Shrine in August 1879.

On Tuesday next, Kathy Clarke of the Dublin Mint Office will present the medal to Fr Richard Gibbons, Parish Priest of Knock, and this is one of a range of medals that have been released by the Mint Office to celebrate the anniversary of the Papal visit.
