Michelin-star restaurant Aniar in Galway city was named Best Restaurant in Connacht while chef Enda McEvoy of Loam restaurant in Galway was named Best Chef in Connacht at the prestigious Food and Wine Awards 2019, last night which was held at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

Now in its 19th year, the Food and Wine Awards is considered the pinnacle event of the year for the Irish food industry.

Aniar  on Domnick st in Galway city was named Best Restaurant in Connacht at the Food and Wine Awards 2019, last night  while Tartare, also run by JP McMahon and Drigin Gaffey in the city, was commended for Best Casual Dining in Ireland.

Tartare opened across the street from Aniar in September last year.

Enda McEvoy of Loam restaurant in Galway city took the title of Best Chef in Connacht at the awards, with Jess Murphy from Kai in Galway- highly commended and Seamus Commons of La Fougere in Knockranny Westport commended, in the same category.

Loam in Galway was highly commended in the Best Restaurant in Connacht category also, with Kai Galway city commended in that category as well.

The Oarsman in Leitrim took the national title of Pub Food of the Year last night.

The Inis Meain Suites  on Inis Meain was highly commended in the Farm and Sea to Plate category.

Iniswallagh on Inisboffin was highly commended under Café of the Year

While Gather Restaurant in Tuam was highly commended in the Readers Choice Award
