Unions representing staff at the Rosalie Unit in Castlerea are to return to the Workplace Relations Commission next month, following what they term is a "breach of trust" by the HSE.
An agreement had been entered into under the guidance of the WRC that would involve the HSE engaging with staff about their future plans, but unions say this has not happened, and staff members are now being asked to apply for a transfer to vacant positions in a number of psychiatric units across Roscommon, Galway and Mayo.
The staff members are represented by SIPTU, Forsa and the PNA.
A number of residents in the Rosalie Unit have been transferred to other care settings in recent weeks, and it's understood only 5 residents remain in the Castlerea facility.
Padraig Mulligan of the Forsa trade union says it's not acceptable to expect a staff member to travel as far as Portumna for work.....
