There has been a 46 percent increase in the number of complaints made to Tusla against creches, child minding and pre-schools.
The figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, are for the first six months of this year compared to last year.
Tusla has been notified of the deaths of two children who were attending childcare services in 2019.
It also shows five children have also gone missing while in childcare.
Fianna Fail TD and Spokesperson for Children and Youth Affairs, Galway East deputy Anne Rabbitte says Tusla needs to provide more information.
