Almost 250 million euro promised by religious orders for victims of historical child abuse has yet to be paid.

The payments were committed to the State over a decade ago to help with the cost of supporting victims.

The Christian Brothers offered playing fields and other land worth 127 million euro, but the assets have yet to be transferred.

18 religious orders have so far contributed 230 million euro in the form of cash, counselling and property transfers.

Galway East Fianna Fail TD Anne Rabbitte ,who obtained the figures ,says she can't understand the delays.
