A Ballinrobe-based meat wholesale company has won awards at the World Steak Challenge, which was held in Ireland for the first time yesterday.
15 Irish producers won a total of 75 accolades at the awards, with entries from 25 countries.
Dawn Meats, Liffey Meats, ABP Ireland, Kepak and Musgraves were among the winners, along with Martin Jennings Wholesale of Ballinrobe, which won a gold award for its grass-fed Aberdeen Angus cross fillet, and two silver awards .
A panel of 40 judges inspected over 300 entries at Fire Restaurant on Dawson Street.
Success in the competition is a bonus to beef producers, as its means they can use The World Steak Challenge stamp on their products.
