New car sales in Mayo are down over 10% in the first half of 2019, compared to this time last year.

That's according to figures published by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, as the 192 registration now begins from today - 1st July.

In Mayo, 1344 new cars have been registered since January - down from 1506 this time last year.

Total new car registrations for the month of June are up 13% compared to June 2018, but new car sales nationally for the first 6 months of the year are down 7.4% on the same period last year.
