Cian's on Bridge Street in Westport has been named the Best Restaurant in Mayo, while the award for Best Chef goes to Barry Ralph of the House of Plates in Castlebar.

These were among the winners at the Irish Restaurant Awards regional final last night, which took place in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo.

Over 500 people attended the Connacht Regional final, where the top establishments in each county were named.

Cian's on Bridge St in Westport was named Best Restaurant in Mayo, while the award for Best Newcomer went to This Must Be The place also in Westport.

House of Plates in Castlebar won the awards for Best Chef and Best Customer Service.

The George 5th Dining Room at Ashford Castle was named Best Hotel Restaurant in Mayo, while Ashford Castle also won the award for Best Wine Experience, and the award for Best Restaurant Manager went to Eva Ivanova of Sage Restaurant in Westport.

Castlebar's Café Rua has been named the county's Best Café, while Bar One took the award for Best Gastro Pub.

In Ballina, VJ Doherty's won Mayo Pub of the Year, Jalan Jalan won the Mayo award for Best World Cuisine, the Cot and Cobble won the award for Best Kids Size Me menu, and John Clarke of Clarke's Salmon Smokery in Ballina was named Best Local Food Hero

Returning to Westport, and Cronin's Sheebeen won the award for Best Casual Dining, An Port Mór took the award for Best Emerging Irish Cuisine, and the Leafy Greens Café won the award for Best "Free From".

Nominations were received from the public for the Irish Restaurant Awards, which are now in their 11th year, and the Mayo winners will now compete for the Regional and All-Ireland titles on the 13th May.
