The mother of a Galway man, who was missing in Malaysia for almost two months, has said the family's prayers have been answered after he was found safe and well.

32-year old tourist Stephen Warde from Kinvara arrived in Malaysia alone on November 15 last and rented a unit in Kuala Lumpar.

He last made contact with his family on January 1st - New Year's Day.

It was confirmed early yesterday that Stephen had been found safe and well, and in a statement, his mother Mary Morrissey has thanked all who helped in the search for him including the staff of the Irish Embassy in Malaysia, and the local Police.

She said the fundraising efforts of so many in Kinvara and her home parish of Clarinbridge have been a real assistance to help the family defray costs, and said balance in the fundraising activities will be donated to other worthy causes.

The family have now asked for privacy to enjoy their reunion with Stephen.

Over €19,000 was raised by the public to finance the search for Stephen Warde.
