200 new jobs are being announced this morning for Galway City.

US company Genesys, which specialises in omnichannel customer experience and contact centre solutions, is announcing the creation of 200 jobs at an event in Galway this morning.

Earlier this year, the company bought out Altocloud in Galway.

The decision of Genesys to acquire Altocloud and establish a new centre of operations creating 200 new highly-skilled tech jobs in Galway has been welcomed this morning by Galway-based Minister of State Séan Kyne.

It's understood the new jobs are in high-end artificial intelligence research and development.

Genesys, which makes and sells customer experience software, has more than 10,000 corporate customers in 100 countries, including some of the world's biggest tech firms such as BT, Microsoft, Oracle and Airbnb.
