A specially-designed ambulance for children visited Ballyhaunis today, where the proceeds of a collection in a local pub were presented to the charity which is part of the Saoirse Foundation.
Curley’s Bar on Clare Street has a long tradition of collecting funds for charities, and the proceeds of the latest collection – which amounted to over €1500 – were handed over today to the crew of the BUMBLEance, which is a state-of-the-art ambulance designed to bring sick children to and from their treatment in hospital safely and comfortably.
The vehicle is fitted out with DVDs, WiFi, a games console and books along with the latest medical equipment, with room on board the ambulance for the child and their parents or carers as well as a paramedic.
Pauline Curley and members of the Curley family were on hand to present the cheque to the charity alongside children from local national school Scoil Íosa.
