We want to express our sincere sympathy to all the Marrinan family and extended families on the sudden passing of Seamus.
Seamus had great principles and he certainly lived by them. He was always so loyal to his family and was very proud of them. He was loyal to his friends and colleagues and would always stand by them. He had a great sense of community and was always there to promote and serve in it. He had a genuine interest in everyone. He loved a good story and had a great sense of humour. He will be sadly missed.
We all have lost a great friend.
May Seamus find the peace that he so richly deserves.

Kieran and Mary Mc Gloin, Westport.
Sincere Condolences to the Marrinan Family on the passing your dear father Seamus. I have known Seamus for nearly 50 years as a colleague in the Department of Agriculture and a friend particularly since the tragic death of the love of his life Carmel. We worked together on the first European subsidy scheme for farmers called the Headage in the late seventies in the Westport area. I went to work in Galway and Seamus stayed in Mayo.
I retired in 2012 and that is when our paths met again. He rang around November time and said: Hey Cove how about setting up a meeting and dinner of retired colleagues.
In deed the two of us traveled to a lunch organised by colleagues in Galway on 12th December. Seamus had worked in Galway in early 70’s in the Tuam area. He met many old colleagues he knew in Galway.
Seamus was a very sociable human being. His broad smile and that wonderful handshake every time you met him. Always plenty of time to talk. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

We were very sorry to hear of the death of Seamus. A hugely popular and highly respected individual. Seamus had a great sense of devotion to the local community which he expressed in so many different ways. An active member of the parish community, involved, very encouraging and always supportive as a neighbour. In so many other ways Seamus gave expression to the community dimension particularly in his sporting interests, where he recognised the importance of encouraging young people in their sporting endeavours. As Chairman of Bord na nÓg for Castlebar Mitchels he communicated a great sense of the importance of the values of integrity and sportsmanship.
