‘Tower House’, Ballaghaderreen and formerly of Magheraboy, Kilmovee, Co. Mayo - on 6th July 2024
Cherished husband of Gerardine, loving father of Gráinne, Niamh, Rhona, Deirdre and Cliodhna and brother of Dan and Stephen.
He will be greatly missed and remembered with love by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, extended family, the GAA community and his many colleagues and friends.

Reposing at home in ‘Tower House’, Market Street, Ballaghaderreen (F45 PE02) on Tuesday, 9th July 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Wednesday, 10th July from 3pm until 6pm.
House private at all other times please.
Removal will take place on Wednesday, 10th July for prayers at 8pm in the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nathy, Ballaghaderreen.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Cathedral on Thursday 11th July at 12 midday.
Burial will follow in Kilcolman Cemetery, Ballaghaderreen.
Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via https://www.mcn.live/camera/cathedral-of-the-annunciation-and-st-nathy-ballaghaderreen

John was a gentleman through and through. He was always very friendly and sincere and made sure to make time for a chat when we met - which was usually at Mayo matches or political events! John has left a lasting legacy in so many fields including education, sports and politics as well as being a wonderful family and community man. John will be sorely missed in so many circles. I am deeply shocked and saddened to read of the death of John O Mahony I know John all my life from serving Mass in Kilmovee to attending St Nathys College in the 1960s and since then and John was always humble honest ,a person who never let fame and popularity get in the way always a kind word for all, He was very dedicated and hardworking he always did his very best to deliver what ever needed to be delivered and this he did with distinction in the sporting field with achievements to date un surpassed.
I offer my deepest sympathy to his wife Geraldine and also to their five daughters and their extended families and to the countless people who mourn the passing of John to his brothers Fr Dan and Stephen and to the Towey family and their extended families . I got to know him really well when I was the Mayo IFA county chairman and I always felt that he would do his very best to deliver on any issues that we as farmers had.
