Margaret Anne Gilroy née Hale,
Loudonville and formerly of Kilglass, Co. Sligo - passed peacefully into eternal life at her home on July 18th 2023.
Maggie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Gilroy, her children Lorraine Danton (Bernard) and Joseph “Noel” Gilroy, parents John and Hannah (née McDonnell) Hale, Kilglass, Co. Sligo, her siblings Mary Simmons, Ellen Hale, John Hale and Patrick James Hale and grandson Ryan Gilroy.
In 1991, Maggie married Michael McCue who predeceased her after sharing many happy years of travel and golf.
Maggie is survived by her children Martin “Desi” Gilroy (Patricia), Erin Lewis (Rodney), Peter Gilroy, Margaret “Meg” Rock (Robert), and June Gilroy (Gerald Fitzgerald).
She had 13 grandchildren: Benjamin and Casey Danton; Annie and Desmond Gilroy and Molly Amado (Mano); Eamon (Adele), Brendan (Jean), and Kieran Rock; Hannah, Fiona, and Ian Fitzgerald; and Liam Gilroy. She had one great-granddaughter Ainsley Amado, many loving nieces and nephews: John, Patrick, Barbara, Brian, Mary, Brendan, Chris, and Katie of Latham, New York; in Ireland Sean, Mary, Noel, Eileen, Kieran, and Patrick Hale; and Patrick Hale of Chicago. She is also survived by her dear friends Father Francis O’Connor, Sister Margaret Hoban and other dear friends.
Funeral services on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas (formerly St. Patrick’s Cathedral) on Central Avenue, Albany NY 12206, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday 22nd July at 12 noon in the Church of the Holy Family, Kilglass.
