John Cosgrove (former Principal of Boys National School, Crossmolina)

Knockglass, Crossmolina, Co. Mayo F26 CC43 and formerly of Carrowmore, Lacken, Co. Mayo (12th January 2023) - suddenly, surrounded by his loving family.

Much loved and sadly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Claudette (McLoughlin), Claire (Loftus), Terri Sue, Sile (Butler), sons Martin and Colin. Sister Terry Lavin (Lacken), brother Michael (Mikey USA), aunt Maud McHale (Lacken),  sons-in-law Henry, John Gerard, Michéal and Michael, daughters-in-law Olive and Eithne, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.

Sadly missed by his 14 adoring grandchildren Caoimhe, Cian, Maeve, Fionn, John, Tom, Darragh, Aoibheann, Emma, Saoirse, Daniel, Finn, Leah and Ciara, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours & friends.

May he Rest in Peace.

Remains reposing at Hiney's Funeral Home, Crossmolina (eircode F26 DH95) this Saturday evening from 3pm until 5pm.

Requiem Mass on Sunday at 11.30am in St. Tiernan's Church, Crossmolina.

Burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery.

Funeral Mass can be viewed on www.churchtv.ie/crossmolina.

John was my teacher in the old BNS, in the late 60's early 70's, always held him in high regard, as a muinteoir, and friend, to Mary and extended family we extend our deepest sympathy on you loss at this time, I remember clearly the music sessions in sticks , and indeed the gathering for the launch of his book in 2012, The Pinnacle, a testament to a great writer, with minute details of the club he loved, like his home club Lacken. I could go on but it would take a week, as the master, as I called him for years ,was a true legend, and god bless him, there will be some stories in heaven!. SLAN A CHARA. RIP.
