Winifred Maher nee McCann better known as Winnie
Kilknock, Breaffy, Castlebar and formerly of Boyle O’Reilly, Drogheda, Co. Louth; Lucan, Co. Dublin and Leixlip, Co. Kildare - peacefully at Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home, Castlebar on 23rd November 2022.
Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Rita McCann, her brothers Kevin and Paddy and her sister Patricia.
Loving and devoted wife of Joe, retired sergeant An Garda Siochana, P.S.V. Inspector Mayo Division. Loving Mam to her sons Rowan and Joseph (Jnr.) and her daughters Siobhán and Fiona and adoring Nana to Lucy.
Winnie will be sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, sons, daughters, their partners Marta and Daniel, her son-in-law Pat Glendon, her brother Jackie (Drogheda), her sisters Aileen Lynch(Drogheda) and Mary Smith (Drogheda), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
May she rest in peace.
Winnie worked all her life in the retail industry. She worked in several retail outlets in Castlebar and spent many years in Exclusive Fabrics. She was a real people person and liked nothing more than connecting with the many friends she had made throughout her life. But her greatest pride and joy was her family to whom she was devoted and who loved her dearly and will forever miss her.
Winnie will repose at the Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar on Friday evening 25th November from 5.30 until 7 o’clock.
The funeral will arrive at St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, Castlebar on Saturday at 1.15pm for Funeral Mass at 1.30pm. Afterwards Winnie will be laid to rest in Breaffy Cemetery.
