• Changes to visiting arrangements come into effect from today, at Sligo University Hospital.

The changes are in line with national guidance.

The hospital is facilitating one visitor per inpatient each day. Visiting times are from 6 pm to 8 pm daily.

The visits must be pre-arranged by family members or visitors, who should contact the relevant ward or Unit in advance.

Since the start of this month(June),  Mayo University Hospital has been facilitating visits to patients in the ward areas by appointment. Appointments are staggered across all ward areas each day from 2pm to 4pm.

There is one visit per patient at any given time at the Castlebar hospital and each visit can last up to 30 minutes.

  • Visiting people at their house is back on the cards from Monday week, May 10th.

Yesterday evening the Taoiseach announced an increase in the number of people that can meet outdoors for social/recreational purposes, including in private gardens.

From May 10th, a maximum of 3 households or 6 people from any number of households can visit in private gardens. This limit of 6 does not include their children aged 12 or younger

Then there is what’s termed the “Vaccine bonus” for indoor visiting

From 10 May, indoor private home visiting is permitted (without masks or social distancing) in the following cases:

    • Fully vaccinated people can meet indoors with other fully vaccinated people as long as there are no more than 3 households present
    • fully vaccinated people can meet indoors with unvaccinated people from a single household, provided that they are not at risk of severe illness and no more than 3 households are present
