train delays

  • Irish Rail is warning of delays of up to an hour this morning on all services into and out of Heuston Station.

This is due to overnight vandalism of signalling equipment between Newbridge and Kildare.

All trains are delayed by between 45 and 60 minutes.

Irish Rail says engineers are working to replace the damaged equipment, but delays will be ongoing for the morning peak.

  • There's delays of between 30 and 45 minutes on services to and from Heuston Station in Dublin.

It's due to signal cable vandalism between Sallins and Newbridge.

Irish Rail says delays will continue throughout the morning peak.

  • This morning's train disruption is one of the worst Irish Rail has ever experienced.

Over 20 thousand passengers were delayed when services were suspended at Heuston Station.

The signalling system - which ensures the safe movement of trains - suffered a major fault shortly before 6am - and all trains in and out of the station were suspended for a time.

Services resumed after a temporary manual signalling system was put in place.

The Westport and Galway services are operating, but there were some knock-on delays this morning.
