  • Castlebar Mitchels will be looking to create history this Sunday when they take on the Kingpins of Mayo hurling Tooreen in the County Senior Hurling decider.

    The game gets underway at 2.30pm in Elverys MacHale Park and there will be full live commentary of the game here on Midwest Sport.

    The last time Mitchels contested a Mayo Senior Hurling Final was 1998.

  • Tooreen will be looking to progress in the Connacht Intermediate Hurling Championship this Sunday when they clash with the Roscommon Champions Four Roads.

    Tooreen created history 2 years ago by becoming the first Mayo side to win the Connacht intermediate crown – something they will hope to emulate once again this year.

  • Midwest Radio will have live commentary of two provincial deciders this weekend.

    On Saturday at 1.30pm Tooreen will look to retain their Connacht Intermediate Hurling crown when they come up against the Galway Champions Oranmore Maree.

    The game will take place in Athleague.

    On Sunday the AIB Club Senior Football Championship final will take place in MacHale Park, Castlebar at 2pm.

    Current All-Ireland Champions Corofin will take on the Mayo Kingpins Ballintubber.

  • A truck has overturned in Tooreen close to the Ave Maria Nursing Home and the road is currently closed to traffic.

    Emergency services are at the scene and diversions are in place.

  • Tooreen will be aiming to secure their place in the All-Ireland Hurling Intermediate final this Saturday.

    Standing in their way is Fr. O’Neill’s of Cork.

  • This year’s Connacht Club Intermediate final throws up a Mayo/Galway combination for the fourth year in succession.

    Since Ballyhaunis were defeated by Ahascragh/Fohenagh in 2016, Tooreen have got to the ultimate round every year since.

    In 2017 Tooreen overcame Ballinderreen to become the first non-Galway team to lift the crown.

    Twelve months later Oranmore/Maree topped Tooreen in a match which saw Tooreen  end the game with 13 players.

    This year it’s the turn of South Galway side Kinvara to face an East Mayo opposition.

  • Tooreen defeated Galway Champions Kinvara to be crowned Connacht Intermediate Champions for the second time in their history.

    Fine displays from Fergal and Shane Boland helped to propel the East Mayo men to a 0-21 to 2-10 victory in Athleague.

    They now go on to face the Munster Champions, Ballysaggart of Waterford or FR. O'Neills of Cork, in the All-Ireland semi-finals on the first weekend of January.

  • Tooreen were crowned Mayo Senior Hurling champions today after they defeated a defiant Castlebar Mitchels challenge by two points.

    It finished in Machale Park Tooreen 0-18 to 1-13 Castlebar Mitchels.

    Tooreen now go on to play Four Roads in the Connacht Intermediate Championship.

    Tooreen will now meet the London Champions Robert Emmetts in two weeks time after their one point extra-time win against St. Gabriel's.

  • Tooreen's run in the All-Ireland series came to an end at the hands of a skillful Fr O'Neills outfit.

    It finished in Tullamore, Tooreen 1-12 0-19 Fr O'N.

    The Cork champions will now go on to play Tullaroan of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Intermediate final.

  • Details have been confirmed of Tooreen's All-Ireland Intermediate club hurling semi-final in the New Year.

    The Tooreen hurlers will meet Fr O'Neills of Cork in the semi-final on Saturday 4th January at 1.30 in Tullamore.

    At the same time in Ennis, Galway football champions Corofin take on Nemo Rangers of Cork in the All-Ireland senior club semi-final.

    The following weekend, Kilmaine are in action in the All-Ireland junior club football semi-final - they take on Kerry side Na Gaeil in Ennis at 1.30 on Saturday 11th January.

  • Tooreen will face Munster and Cork Intermediate Champions Fr. O’Neills in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club semi-finals.

     

    The Cork men overcame Ballysaggart of Waterford yesterday by 2-16 to 0-17.

     

    The match is scheduled for the first weekend of January.
