Summer schools

  • Government funding totalling €17,500 has been allocated for eight community-based festivals and Summer Schools in Mayo.

    The scheme is designed to assit local cultural events, which may not be eligible under funding criteria for larger-scale grants, such as those supported by Failte Ireland and the Arts Council.

    The Seosamh McGabhann Summer School in Kilmovee gets the largest allocation of €5,000 with grants also for the North mayo Summer School of Traditional Music, Swinford 250 and More festival, the Ballina Fringe Festival, Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival and the Mac Luí Children's Arts Festival in Westport, Mayo North Old Engine & Tractor Club Heritage Day and Feile Iorrais - the folk arts festival in Erris.
