Stabbing

  • A man in his thirties was stabbed in an incident at a residence in the Carrowkelly area, outside Ballina, yesterday evening.

    The man was taken from the scene to Mayo University Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

    A man in his 50s was arrested , just before 10pm last night, and is being detained at Ballina garda station for questioning.

    Anyone who may have been in the Carrowkelly area yesterday evening and may have noticed anything suspicious or may have any relevant information  is asked to contact Ballina garda station at 096 20560

  • A Garda has been stabbed in Galway.

    It happened just before 1 o'clock this afternoon in the Oranmore area.

    The member of the armed response unit has been taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

    A suspect was arrested and is being held at Mill Street station.

    Gardai remain at the scene.

  • Gardaí in Ballyhaunis are investigating a stabbing incident in the town in the early hours of yesterday morning.

    Gardai were alerted to the incident at about 2am on Bank Holiday Monday, at Upper Main Street, Ballyhaunis.

    A 23 year old man received stab wounds to his leg and arm, a second man, aged 26, was also injured.

    Both men were removed from the scene to Mayo University Hospital.

    No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing,

  • An investigation is underway after a man suffered head and neck injuries after he was stabbed in Sligo last night.

    The incident happened on the Strandhill Road area at around twenty five past eight.

    The victim, whose injuries are not believed to be life threatening, was  brought to Sligo Regional Hospital.

    One man has been arrested and is being detained at Ballymote Garda Station.
