Road traffic collision

  • Emergency services are attending the scene of a 3-car collision at Kilconly near Tuam.

    The road traffic collision has occurred at Castlegrove on the Tuam to Ballinrobe Road.

    Gardai have confirmed that the road is closed from Kilconly GAA pitch to the old Garda station in Kilconly.

    Gardai and emergency services are currently at the scene, and no further details are yet available.

     

  • Emergency services are attending the scene of a collision on the N17 near Claremorris.

    The crash involving a truck and a car occurred at the Ballinrobe turn-off on the N17.

    Gardai and ambulance crews are currently at the scene, and motorists can expect some delays.

     

  • Castlebar Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a road collision this day last week.

    The collision occurred on Rathbawn Road, Castlebar on Thursday last between 7 and 7.30 am when a male cyclist was injured.

    Gardai say the man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and they're anxious to trace a blue van which may have been involved in the incident.

  • A man in his 50’s has died following a fatal road collision this morning on the N59 Mulranny to Newport road.

    The collision occurred at about 9am this morning.

    Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 50’s died when the car he was driving hit a stationary trailer.

    He was the sole occupant of the car.

    Westport Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at 098 – 50230, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.

    The Mulranny to Newport road remains closed this lunchtime to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

  • A section of the N84 Headford road, which was closed to traffic following a collision last night, has just reopened within the past few minutes.

    Two vehicles were involved in a collision at about 9pm last night, which caused one vehicle to veer off path and collide with a third vehicle.

    Emergency services attended the scene and one man was taken to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries.

    A section of the road was subsequently closed from Corrandulla crossroads to Flaherty's Cross to allow for a technical examination of the scene to be carried out, and Gardai have now confirmed to Midwest News that the road has since reopened.

  • The road through Hollymount village is closed, following a road traffic collision.

    It's understood three vehicles were involved in the collision on the Ballinrobe side of Hollymount village, and Gardai have confirmed that the road is closed to traffic.

    Emergency services are currently at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
