Mount Dillon

  • Temperatures could reach 28 degrees in some places today.

    Met Eireann says it's expected to be the hottest day of the year, and the warm weather will continue into the weekend.

    Belmullet and Mount Dillon in Roscommon are the hottest spots so far today - both registering 23 degrees at 12 noon, while it's 22 degrees in Claremorris and 21 at Knock Airport.

    Met Eireann says tomorrow is set to be another dry and mild day.

    Weather conditions will become more unsettled towards the weekend.

    As of 10am, the mercury reached 21 degrees, with Met Eireann forecasting highs of up to 25 degrees this afternoon in Connacht, while the south and the east of the country are expected to see the best conditions.

    Mayo enjoyed the hottest temperatures in the country yesterday.

    For the Bank Holiday Monday, Newport Furnace weather station recorded the highest temperature of over 27 degrees.

    Athenry in Co Galway, Mount Dillon in Roscommon and Claremorris in Co Mayo all enjoyed over 26 degrees of sunshine, with 24.3 degrees recorded at Knock Airport.

    However, the second half of the week is expected to be cooler and blustery.
