Mayo Club Championship

  • It’s round 2 of the Mayo Club Football Championship this weekend and once again Midwest Sport will have extensive coverage with thanks to Ceramic City Castlebar, Charlestown & Sligo.

    We’ll also have commentary of the mouth watering clash involving Castlebar Mitchels & Breaffy in Josie Munnelly Park at 2.30pm on Sunday.

    Tom Carney & Nigel Reape will be on duty.

    We’ll have reporters at all of the other games over the course of tomorrow and Sunday.

    The Sports wrap-up show will again run between 7.30pm and 8.30pm this Sunday.

    The other game in Group 4 is on Saturday evening at 5pm between Westport & Charlestown.

    In Group 1 on Saturday evening at 7pm Garrymore entertain Ballaghaderreen while on Sunday at 2pm The Neale make the trip to Belmullet.

    In Group 2 all of the teams are on one point each – at 5pm on Saturday Aghamore host Davitts while at 7pm Bohola Moy Davitts welcome Ballintubber.

    In Group 3 both games are on Sunday afternoon, Claremorris host Ballina Stephenites at 3pm while at 4pm Knockmore travel to Kiltane.

    In the Intermediate football Championship, there are some fascinating games in store.

    In Group 1 both games are on Saturday evening at 5pm – Louisburgh host Kiltimagh while Bonniconlon travel to Swinford.

    In Group 2 at 7pm on Saturday Castlebar Mitchels B will travel to Mayo Abbey to take on Mayo Gaels.

    The other game in Group 2 is on Sunday between Burrishoole & Ardnaree at 2pm.

    In Group 3 both games are down for Sunday, Islandeady host Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin at 1pm while at 3pm Hollymount-Carramore entertain Balla.

    Ballyhaunis are away to Ballinrobe at 5pm on Saturday evening in Group 4 while on Sunday at 3pm it’s the local derby of Crossmolina Deel Rovers & Lahardane.

    In the TF Royal Theatre Junior Championship Group 1 both games are fixed for Saturday evening.

    At 5pm Kilmovee Shamrocks host Eastern Gaels while at 7pm neighbours Moygownagh and Ardagh will go to battle.

    In Group 2 at 5pm on Saturday Ballycroy welcome Killala while at 2pm on Sunday Kilmeena host Lacken.

    In Group 3 both games are down for Sunday, Tourmakeady are at home to Achill at 1pm while at 3pm Kilfian are away to Kilmaine.

    On Sunday in Group 4 Shrule/Glencorrib host Ballycastle at 3pm.

  • The details have been confirmed for the Semi-Finals of the Mayo Club Championship.

    Elverys MacHale Park will again play host to double-headers on Saturday & Sunday.

    On Saturday evening at 5.30pm in the Intermediate Football Championship semi-final Hollymount-Carramore will face Kiltimagh.

    That will be followed at 7.15pm by Breaffy & Westport in the Senior Football semi-final.

    On Sunday the other senior semi-final sees the all North Mayo clash between Knockmore and Ballina Stephenites at 3.45pm.

    That will be preceded by the Intermediate semi-final between by Ballinrobe & Balla at 2pm.

    The senior relegation play-off final is on Sunday between Bohola Moy Davitts & Claremorris at 1pm in Kiltimagh.

    The intermediate relegation play-off final is on Saturday afternoon in Parke at 4pm between Islandeady & Swinford.

    The Junior semi-final between Kilmaine and Cill Chomain is on Saturday in Ballina at 4pm while the other last four clash is on Sunday at 1pm in Islandeady between Kilmeena & Shrule/Glencorrib.

  • There is another exciting weekend in store with the semi-finals of the Mayo Club Championship.

    In the Connacht Gold Senior semi-final Breaffy & Westport will clash at 7.15 in Elverys MacHale Park on Saturday evening which will be preceded by the Intermediate last four meeting of Hollymount-Carramore and Kiltimagh.

    The other intermediate semi-final is on Sunday at 2pm in MacHale Park between Balla and Ballinrobe which will be the curtain raiser to the senior semi-final pairing of Knockmore and Ballina Stephenites at 3.45.

    All four games will be live on Midwest Radio Sport.

    Elsewhere, in the senior relegation final play-off Bohola Moy Davitts & Claremorris will meet on Sunday at 1pm in Kiltimagh.

    There are also three games in the Exclusive Junior B Championship on Saturday. In group 1it’s Ballycastle and Moygownagh while Ballycroy host Kilmovee Shamrocks. In group 2 Lacken welcome Tourmakeady and those games throw in at 4pm.

  • The draws for the knockout stages of the Mayo Senior & Intermediate Championships took place last night.

    In the Senior quarter finals Garrymore will take on Ballaghaderreen while James Horan’s Westport have been drawn against Breaffy in what promises to be an epic showdown.

    In the other side of the draw, reigning Champions Castlebar Mitchels will come up against last year’s semi-finalists Claremorris while last year’s intermediate champions Bohola Moy Davitts have been drawn to face Ballintubber.

    In the senior relegation play-offs there will be an all north mayo clash involving knockmore and Crossmolina. The other play-off sees Aghamore clash with Davitts.

    In the intermediate football championship last 8 Burrishoole have been paired with Ballinrobe while The Neale will face Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin.

    On the other side of the draw Belmullet have been drawn against Swinford while Kiltimagh will meet 2016 Junior champions Louisburgh.

    In the intermediate relegation play-off semi-finals Bonniconlon will face Castlebar Mitchels while Shrule/Glencorrib have been drawn against mayo Gaels.

    The games will take place over the weekend of September 22nd and 23rd with dates times and venues to be confirmed at a later stage.

  • It’s round 3 of the Mayo Club Championship this weekend with still a few quarter final spots up for grabs in the senior & intermediate.

    Midwest Radio will have reporters at all of the games as well as live commentary from the Connacht Gold senior championship Group 4 clash involving Castlebar Mitchels and Westport with both sides looking for a win in order to advance to the knockout stages.

    That game is on Saturday evening at 5pm in Breaffy and at the same time in Claremorris Breaffy meet Charlestown.

    In Group 1, both games are on Sunday at 4pm.

  • It’s going to be an incredibly busy weekend on the Mayo Club Championship scene with three live commentaries and updates on all the games.

    Midwest Radio Sport will have live coverage of the reigning County Champions Ballintubber in action against last year’s Intermediate Champions Belmullet at 5 o’clock on Saturday.

    Then on Sunday we’ll have live commentary of the double header from MacHale Park.

    At 1.30 it’s the intermediate quarter final between Crossmolina and Burrishoole.

    Then at 3pm it’s the mouth watering senior quarter final between Knockmore and Castlebar Mitchels.

    Most of the games will take place on Saturday August 25th, due to the Pope’s visit to Knock Shrine on the Sunday.

    In the Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship Group 1 Aghamore v Castlebar Mitchels is at 6pm on Saturday 25th, while Ballina v Ballaghaderreen is Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

    In Group 2 Garrymore v Charlestown and Knockmore face Bohola Moy Davitts are on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.

    In Group 3 Westport v Hollymount/Carramore is at 4pm and Claremorris v Crossmolina is at 6pm that evening.

    In Group 4 Kiltane v Davitts is at 4pm and with Ballintubber and Breaffy throwing in at 6pm.

    In the Egan Jewellers Intermediate Championship Group 1 Kiltimagh v Mayo Gaels is Saturday evening at 4pm with Belmullet v Ballyhaunis throwing in at 6pm. In Group 2 Swinford v Bonniconlon is at 6pm Saturday evening.

  • Mayo GAA has today confirmed that the format of the club championship will run as originally intended with group stages followed by knock-out.

    The first round of the club hurling championship will commence on Friday July 31st with the football leagues also commencing that weekend.

    The first round of the Mayo Senior, Intermediate & Junior Championship will take place on the weekend of August 8th & 9th.

    The club finals are scheduled to take place on the weekend of September 19th & 20th.

    The schedule for October & November will be confirmed once Mayo GAA receive dates from the National CCCC.

    The Championship draws remain the same as per draw on March 9th.

    The CCCC will be issuing revised League & Championship Regulations early next week.

  • There will be no senior league club football in Mayo this year.

    Originally it was agreed that the league would commence on the August Bank Holiday weekend, however the majority of clubs requested that under the circumstances the league should be scrapped for 2020.

    This was then agreed at a CCC meeting on Monday night and a revised calendar for the remainder of the 2020 season has been drawn up.

    Games will return on the weekend of July 18th & 19th with round one of the Michael Walsh Leagues.

    Round One of the Mayo Club Football Championships will now commence on the August Bank Holiday weekend while the hurling championship will start on July 25th & 26th.

    The Senior, Intermediate & Junior Club Football Finals will take place on the weekend of September 18th, 19th & 20th.
