  • Ballyheane were crowned Connacht U18 Youth Champions for the first time in their history last night with a 1-0 win over Manulla.

    Ballyheane coach Martin Lyons told Midwest Sport after the game that it’s a fantastic day for a small country club.

  • Manulla has been drawn away to Cork’s Wilton United in the semi-final of the FAI Women’s Intermediate Cup.

    The Mayo side had a 3-2 win over Ivies Celtic from Donegal to secure their passge through to the last four of this pristegious competition.

    The semi-final will take place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

  • Manulla will take on Whitehall Rangers in the Women’s Intermediate Shield Final at 2pm in Mullingar.

     

    Manulla are appearing in their fourth final in five years and were beaten in the Cup semi final last year.

     

    Manulla lost the Shield Final in 2015 to Boyne Rovers after extra time.

     

    They overcame Terenure Rangers in 2016, 3-0, again in the Shield Final.

     

    Manulla won the Cup Final in 2017 with a 4-1 win over Cork side Lakewood Athletic.

     

    Wilton from Crok beat Manulla in the Cup Semi final last season.

  • Manulla FC & Mayo Autism Youth Project project has received €5,000 funding after winning the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund People’s Choice Award.

    The Mayo-based project was announced as one of the People’s Choice Award winners after the Irish public selected the Mayo project from 22 shortlisted community groups.

    Manulla FC & Mayo Autism Camp train young people to become youth coaches, so as to lead in creating a more supportive and inclusive community for all their peers.

    They are one of twelve successful non-profit organisations who will benefit from a share of the €100,000 Fund.

    This year’s Coca-Coca Thank You Fund grant brings the total amount donated since 2011 to €1,055,000 to community projects in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

  • The draw for round 5 of the FAI New Balance Junior Cup has been made.

    Castlebar Celtic have been handed a home draw against Vee Rovers of Tipperary.

    Manulla also have a home draw and they will play the winners of Springfield FC or Rathcoole Rovers.

    Westport Utd also have the luxury of a home draw and they will face either Balscadden or Liffey Wanderers.

  • There are two games in the Elverys Sports Super League tonight.

    It’s second against fourth when Westport United host Manulla.

    Westport need to win to remain in touching distance of Castlebar Celtic at the top of the table.

    Celtic are also in action tonight and face 7th placed Ballyheane who are fighting off relegation.

    However, having won the Connacht Youth Cup recently Ballyheane will be brimming with confidence when they take to Celtic Park tonight.

    Celtic manager Michael McNicholas has been telling Midwest Sport that he knows it’s going to be another tough contest tonight.
