  • New Connacht coach Andy Friend has selected back-row Jarrad Butler as his captain for the coming season.

    Butler made 19 appearances for the Westerners in his debut season at the Sportsground.

    The 27-year-old will qualify to play for Ireland in 2020.


  • Connacht captain Jarrad Butler has committed his future to the province by signing a contract extension which will keep him at the Sportsground until the summer of 2022.

    The 28-year-old back-row forward, who becomes Irish qualified next year, says he's 'hugely honoured' to extend his stay at the western province.

    Butler was capped at under-20 level by Australia and was Connacht's player of the season in 2018.
