• From next Monday, the maximum number of people permitted to attend a funeral is to increase from 10 to 25.

However there has been no clarity on whether the numbers attending weddings will increase from 6 guests when restrictions are slightly eased.

Wedding organisers are calling for clarity from government on when numbers that can attend a wedding look likely to  increase

Sharon Griffin from Frog Prince Weddings believes a wedding can sometimes be safer than a funeral:

  • Guests at Ashford Castle can enjoy a new al fresco dining option this summer with the launch of the hotel’s Perfect Picnics, made up of local and Irish produce. Named after characters from the Quiet Man, which was filmed in Cong and on the Ashford estate, there are three Perfect Picnic* menus that guest can choose from.

Priced for two people, the Michaleen Flynnpicnic retails at 65.00, The John Wayne at 70 euro or the Maureen O’Hara picnic at 80 euro.

Ashford Castle intends to eliminate the use of disposable plastics by next year.  Therefore  only bio-degradable items are used when preparing   picnics, and wherever possible, only organic sustainable produce from local artisan suppliers are used in the picnic, as are organic vegetables and salads from the three polytunnels on the estate.
