GP's

  • 54% of Mayo GP’s are not taking on new patients at their clinical practices- according to a survey by the Irish Independent.

    The survey asked GP practices across the country if they are taking on new patients to their GP practice.

    The worst figure in the west comes from Sligo, with only 17% taking on new patients and a further 17% of GP’s requiring an assessment.

    In Roscommon, 33% of GP’s have stopped taking on new patients with a further 17% requiring an assessment.

    While Galway sees 16% of GP's not taking on new patients while a further 20% require an assessment.

    Leitrim is the only county in the province to have all GP’s accepting new patients.
