Farm Death

  • A man's been arrested in connection with the death of a woman on a farm in Co. Galway in April of this year.

    A woman in her mid 70s died when she was hit by a farm vehicle near Boula, outside Portumna on the afternoon of April 27th. 

    Emergency services were called to the scene but she was pronounced dead a short time later. 

    A man in his 50s was arrested in Co. Galway this morning. 

    He is being held at Loughrea Garda station where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

  • A man is due in court this evening charged in connection with the death of a woman following an incident on a farm in Co Galway last year.

    On the afternoon of the 27th April 2018, a woman in her mid-70's died after being struck by an agricultural vehicle on a farm on the outskirts of Portumna.

    Gardai investigating the circumstances of her death have today charged a man in his 50's in connection with the incident.

    He's due to appear before a special sitting of the District Court in Loughrea this evening.


  • A man has died following a farm accident in Co Roscommon.

    The man, who passed away in hospital this morning, was injured following an incident last Saturday involving a tractor.

    The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed it is investigating the circumstances.

    It is the second farm fatality in week after the death of a Wexford farmer on Tuesday.
