FAI Cup

  • The draw for the first round of the FAI Cup was revealed yesterday as Galway United takes on Collinstown while Sligo rovers face Glebe North in round one of the FAI Cup.

    The two Western sides will both face Dublin opposition in the first round of the competition.

    Galway United face the South Dublin Collinstown side in the first round of the FAI Cup, while Sligo Rovers do battle with Balbriggan side, Glebe North.

    Matches will be played on the weekend of the 11th of August.

  • All dates, kick-off times and locations have now been confirmed for the first round of the Extra.ie FAI Cup first round which will take place across Friday, August 9th to Sunday, August 11th.

    Friday, August 9th

    Glebe North v Sligo Rovers, Market Green, Balbriggan 7.45pm

     

    Sunday, August 11th

    Collinstown v Galway United, Home Farm FC, Whitehall, 2pm

  • The FAI Cup quarter final draw reveals the opponents for Sligo Rovers and Galway United.

    Galway host Shamrock Rovers at home while UCD face off against Sligo Rovers.

    All the big teams will not face each other until the semi finals should they get past their quarter-final opponents.

    The FAI Cup quarter final draw is

    Galway United v Shamrock Rovers

    Sligo Rovers v UCD

    Waterford v Dundalk

    Crumlin v Bohemians

  • In the FAI Cup second round Sligo Rover will face Limerick, while Galway United do battle with Cork City

     

    Holders Dundalk will travel to Derry City as they look to do the double.

     

    All fixtures will be played on Sunday, August 25 with dates and kick-off times set to be confirmed at a later date.

     

  • In the League of Ireland First Division Galway United will face Cobh Ramblers on Friday evening.

     

    United are in desperate need of points as they currently sit in eight position in the league and will have all to play for against seventh placed Cobh.

     

    They will need to refocus quickly from their devastating FAI Cup clash with Shamrock Rovers which saw the premier side break the deadlock in the 93rd minute.

     

    Kickoff in Eamon Deacy Park on Friday is at 7:45.

     

  • The Mayo League says that the fixtures for the remainder of the season will be revised in the next few weeks to facilitate the F.A.I. Junior Cup, Connacht Cup/Shield and the Oscar Traynor competition. 

    The revised list will be sent out shortly to clubs. 

    There will be no alteration to the original fixtures diary for the weekends of 8th, 9th, and 15th, 16th September.

  • Sligo Rovers have been advised that no tickets will be on sale on the gate for their EXTRA.ie FAI Cup match against Glebe North at 745 tomorrow.

    There are a number of ticket outlets where tickets will be available between now and kick off, on a first come, first served basis.

    The outlets are as follows:

    Supervalu, Balbriggan

    The harvest Bar, Balbriggan

    Pappagilanos (beside harbour), Balbriggan.

    It has been advised that all supporters purchase their tickets as early as possible on the night to avoid disappointment.

    Rovers have a limited number of tickets available for the clash, which can be obtained at the Showgrounds office by noon tomorrow (Friday). 

  • Sligo Rovers will host Finn Harps in the League of Ireland Premier Division on Friday evening.

     

    Harps make the trip to the Showgrounds in desperate need of points as they currently rest second from the bottom above UCD.

     

    Kick-off is at 8pm.

     

    Meanwhile, Waterford and Dundalk will look to join Sligo and Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup last four tonight.

     

    The final semi-finalist will be decided next Monday when Crumlin United take on Bohemians.
