  • Creggs and Connemara are involved in a crunch J1 Junior League Game on Sunday afternoon.

    The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Creggs Rugby Grounds.

    The winner of this clash on Sunday will be in pole position to win the league so the stakes are huge.

    It is 22 years since Creggs last won this title.

  • A Roscommon woman died in a road collision in Co Cavan at the weekend.

    Yvonne Ward nee Sheehan from Rosmoylan, Creggs was driving a car which was involved in a collision with a lorry near Ballinagh in Co Cavan on Saturday.

    She was removed from the scene to Cavan General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

    Mrs Ward, who was a native of Strokestown, was very involved in her local community in Creggs, and as a mark of respect, the Creggs Charity Walk held annually on St Stephen's Day has been postponed until Saturday 4th January.

    She was also a member of the Roscommon Solstice Choir, who say it is with profound sadness and a sense of deep shock that they learned of Yvonne's death in a road collision.

    Her husband Michael is also a member of the choir.

    Her remains will repose at Smyth's Funeral Home in Roscommon tomorrow evening from 3.30 until 6pm.

    Funeral Mass is on St Stephen's Day at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Kilbegnet with burial afterwards in Kilbegnet Cemetery.
